London – Castel Underwriting Agencies, the club-style MGA formation platform, has today appointed Vanessa Powell as its first claims manager.
Powell joins from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group where she was Aviation Claims Manager. She has over 30 years’ experience across all classes of aviation claims and has held senior claims roles within a number of established Lloyd’s and London market underwriting businesses and brokers.
In her new role, Powell will be responsible for the management and delivery of claims services across Castel’s existing and new cells including Altitude Risk Partners (ARP), its aerospace cell. She will also join Castel’s executive committee.
Mark Birrell, CEO of Castel said: “Vanessa’s appointment is another important step in our development. Her extensive experience in aviation claims will obviously benefit the growth of ARP, and her addition to the Castel team further increases the level of expertise and capabilities available through our platform to our growing number of cells.”
Castel was launched in October 2013 to provide experienced and entrepreneurial underwriters with stable capacity and a fast-track route to creating their own businesses.
To date Castel has launched ARP and Newbridge, a political risk cell. Additional cell launches are planned during 2015.
